31 August, 2008 Merdeka: What’s the name of that song before Tanggal 31?

Disbelieving Malaysiakini‘s piece: ‘Racism still haunts nation at 51st Merdeka’, I switched on RTM on TV1 at 12:10am (yes, for the second time this year, you can pop that wine cork again…)

Wah…. very big crowd at Dataran Merdeka celebrating Merdeka together with our Yang DiPertuan Agong and VVIPs.

The camera trained on those VVIPs singing and swaying on stage and I saw… horrors… was that Abdullah Ahmad Badawi aka Pak Lah holding back tears whilst everybody were singing a particularly gusty patriotic song?

I did not catch that song’s name which came on before the Sudirman made famous song ‘Tanggal 31’. Now, what’s that song that got our PM all patriotically teary?

Also on stage, Lee Chong Wei (this badminton silver medal Olympian really is world class cos Malaysia such a small country with small people can get silver as compared with China such a big country with big number of people), Dr SMS (Remember? The astronaut passenger Syed Muzaffar…, that one another story)

Dr. Ng Yen Yen was enjoying the karaoke very much and swings le little Jalur Merdeka with much gusto. Yes, this type of energy will be much useful for the upcoming MCA party election.

OK, now the singing session over, my sense of rationalism kicks back.

How come only BN fellas seen on the patriotic stage? Did anybody at Jabatan Perpaduan Negara think at all to invite all our MPs (plus those non BN) on stage to lead the patriotism? The stage was not reserved for BN’s show of patriotism, right?

I see the faces of rakyat Malaysia at Dataran Merdeka, Merdeka belongs to all rakyat Malaysia, man! Nobody can monopoly or copyright Merdeka!

I wonder if we dare face the truth of Merdeka ‘sacrifice’? Dare we really to sit down together to reflect on what was and is Merdeka now? Anybody realise that Merdeka has undergone transformations since the original Tunku Abdul Rahman’s version of 1957?

I’ll reserve my next GE vote for any politician with guts to take on this ‘project’ –

For Malaysia to successfully reach 2020, for our young to experience the Merdeka spirit, how do we connect Merdeka with our current aspirations? 1957’s Merdeka was a physical liberation from the shackles of British penjajah’s ‘divide and rule’. 1963’s Merdeka elevated our ‘Merdeka’ to ‘Federalism’ of Malaysia+Sabah+Sarawak on 16 September. Do you think that 2008’s Merdeka represents the awakening of the rakyat’s sense of citizenry? How should we recognise and pass on Merdeka to our young ones?

Tis heavy, ain’t it, this subject of nationalism and citizenry.

So, for you who claim yourself a Malaysian, which version of the Merdeka are you honouring now? What version of Merdeka will you honour next year and the next….? Instead of writing about it only in blog commentaries, will you make some efforts to be hand in hand with your fellow rakyat Malaysia of various colours, hitam manis, kuning langsat, coklat or putih to honour Merdeka?

Pass me a hanky, please…

Permatang Pauh by-election: KL Bookies reduced odds of Anwar

Am on a holiday from yukky, unhygenic backside, dubur, sodomy, liwat, etc kind of politics.

But I could not resist this juicy bit, must share with you all…

Kuala Lumpur bookies have reduced the odds of Anwar Ibrahim winning the Permatang Pauh (P44) by-election by a majority of only 4,000 votes.

Seditious utterances on Bernama tv Hello Malaysia: Malaysiakini pls investigate!!

Did anyone watch Bernama TV yesterday night on channel 502 the show ‘Hello Malaysia’?

Our ‘hero’ Ibrahim Ali (the frog who rode on PAS ticket in GE recently and proclaimed himself as an independent after winning an MP seat in Kelantan) was ever so ultra and extremist accusing Khalid Ibrahim selling out Malay rights.

He scolded Khalid and Ong Tee Keat for mempertikaikan perlembagaan negara!!! He also accused other private institutions for not opening up for Bumi. On one hand, he acknowledged UITM is for those who’s qualification are not accepted by apex university, but on the other hand, he want to bully other education institutions to lower their standards to serve his nationalistic fervours!!!

I think matilah our country’s economy if many of our politicians cannot calculate or hedge our current human resources (students) as national assets for future. Such backward tempurung minds cannot do justice to help our rakyat to succeed on a well managed NEP. How can a country compete with global minds if our not so best are treated as best according to our warped standards!! Patutlah our politicians not Division One!

More on Division One here.

pssssst… the talk show has a call in also. The second caller was damn seditious, saying that who allow other races to have kerakyatan jus soli in Malaysia during independence negotiation, shouldn’t allow other races kerakyatan. The moderator was so stupid, only grinned when this caller muttered the disrespectful utterance against our Perlembagaan. Ibrahim Ali can be seen puffing up his chest.

I’m so damn mad with Ibrahim Ali!!!!!!
Bernama, you really bring your status down as national news agency!!!

encore! The analysis on MCA that Malaysiakini didn’t have (Part II) bananachinese.wordpress.com

okay, okay, okay…

I didn’t know MCA got so many fans out there wanting the juice on the largest Chinese political party outside China.

For those of you asking for Mary’s telephone number or email contact, I hate to disappoint you… I don’t have lar. I’m not Mary’s keeper and I don’t know her myself lar!

Come to think of it, I’m not sure whether Mary’s a she or a he or a shim? But I hope she/he/shim is not a simian… and chase this banana up the tree heheehee.

But since I am new fan of Mary – she/he/shim? of MCA, I will do the fan’s duty and publish her/his/shim letter in my blog. You all come and peak at me blog from time to time, ok? Self service.

Now, how about a big applause to record your appreciation to bananaC’s kind gesture, please.

For lazy boners, MCA bashers and diehards, here the encore of Mary’s writings:

Unleash your 3rd liners, MCA!

Fish heads blocking MCA’s convalescence

Psssst… Mary, do you have any juice on Chua Soi Lek – I’m curious why he did the naughty thingy, knowing full well he’s bound to be toppled if caught. All politicians in the world toppled by sex never rose again. Hope its not a psychological problem?

The analysis on MCA that Malaysiakini didn’t have (Part II) bananachinese.wordpress.com

Mary really brightened up my day with this analysis on MCA that Malaysiakini didn’t have. Love this Part II insight on the fish heads.

I will vote for you Mary dear, even if you are an MCA member… just promise me you will take the greatest care to select the best fish head for dinner… We can have a cosy threesome dinner, if you can get Ong Tee Keat to join us (puuurrrrrr….)

Here’s a bit of Mary’s titillating serving…

—–

If you ask most old timer members “Who was the most important President of MCA?” they’d most likely say “Tan Cheng Lock”. But if you asked young MCA members the same question they’d likely to answer “Ong Ka Ting”.

Why Ong Ka Ting? Why not Tan Siew Sin, Tan Koon Swan, Lee San Choon, Ling Liong Sik?

Simple. The post Merdeka born and i-pod generation connect with the present Ong Ka Ting. It doesn’t matter if he has not won a Nobel Prize for peace. Living in the now, he’s the current in-power who is conveniently identifiable with their chase for lofty lifelong pursuits.

Perhaps, Ong Ka Ting could have a chance at the Nobel Prize, had he been more aggressive in pushing the limits of Barisan Nasional’s tolerance to seriously infect fellow rakyat Malaysia with a new healthy political culture.

Anyway… If MCA members have to find that one thing to remember Ong Ka Ting at all, he would be remembered for quietly demonstrating to Malaysia that constraining the MCA top dog’s perpetual officialdom through term limitation is possible. Constricting the Ministers and State Assemblymen’s perpetual reign is also possible.

As a result, Ong Ka Ting earned himself a place in MCA’s history and a first in Malaysia’s politics. He solved an MCA problem of the ‘rotting fish head’ syndrome which brought down his predecessor.

Unfortunately, the recently concluded Divisional election brought up another aspect of the ‘rotting fish head’ syndrome.

You see, living in the MCA virtual blue ocean, are the giant whales (Central Committee members aka big fish heads), the schools of middle sized fishes (Divisional Chairmen aka middle school fish heads) and the huddled up tiny sized fish minnows which hide among the stones (Members aka tiny fish heads).

Sadly, Ong Ka Ting has forgotten to solve the problem of the middle school’s rotting fish heads.

Flippity flop… Ezam can’t and now most probably can

If my memory serves me correctly, Ezam was told he is not qualified to stand for any party posts in UMNO as he has just join (re-join) the body.

So, if he cannot contest for party posts, how come he is qualified to stand as a candidate for a by-election so soon?

How can he be so thick faced to offer himself to be the giant killer at Permatang Pauh? Who in UMNO encourages this guy so?

Looks like there’s more than one unique Mr Flip Flop in UMNO…. or the deadly flippity flop syndrome has hit the whole UMNO Majlis Tertinggi… h o r r o r…
