PKFZ: The barometer of Malaysian government’s vote-ability

Me handphone beeped a text message this morning:

10/12: Former Port Klang Authority General Manager, Datin Paduka OC Phang and two others were arrested over the PKFZ issue. They will be charged in Klang today./The Star

Nice.

Now let us hear from politicians who dare to stand up for principles and accountability to the people of Malaysia.

Other politicians’ voices, please, besides Ong Tee Keat. We already know he has trail blazed the way forward in breaking the iceberg of this huge financial scandal Malaysia can do without.

Anyone else from MCA daring to go against corruption?

Let me hear from others who may have some hidden strength of character undetected by voters. Never, never be shy to promote your beliefs to your real constituents out there. MCA is just a tiny platform for your political relevancy. May I remind you, your BIG target to win over is Malaysians. Orang putih ke, orang hitam ke, orang coklat ke…  doesn’t matter. (I just love this colourful line of Susan Lankaster’s from me favorite Malaysian movie Mekanik. See the youtube clip open at 5:45 – 6:02)

We already have a brave young one from Pemuda UMNO who has asked for force of the law to come down hard on those gluttons nibbling off chunks of the PKFZ gravy train.

Bravo, Khairy Jamaluddin!

If UMNO and MCA keeps on upgrading their level of accountability and adherence to rules of governance, no sane voter will begrudge them the reward of a huge mandate in the next General Election.

Scandalously entertaining melee in Perak State Assembly

Hee Yit Foong was very entertaining… as were all the highly energetic Yang Berhormats. Finally all the deeply buried talents rised to public scrutiny. Syabas to the hardworking YB actors/actresses.

Chanced upon a very miniscule paragraph from The Starsomeone from Barisan Nasional expertly id the source of the problem (gasp! shock!)

Pandemonium could have been avoided

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat said the pandemonium at the Perak state assembly on Thursday could have been avoided had the standing orders been upheld.

“I was shocked to learn of some (people) acting violently and some being dragged out physically. This has tainted the process of parliamentary democracy.

“If we want to play polemics and party politics, I hope we will respect the standing orders and assembly etiquette, be it in Parliament or the state assembly,” he said after launching a calligraphy exhibition at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM in Bukit Bintang.

Oh! One question before I sign off: That was a mighty huge thumb drive you have there, Ms Hee. How many gigabytes does it store, pray tell?

Wanita UMNO chief contest: Damned if you do and damned if you don’t

Hear ye, hear ye, Wanita UMNO ladies… did the respected Tengku Tan Sri Ahmad Rithauddeen Tengku Ismail sent you ladies a hint! hint! yesterday?

Let the contest begin with a nice compendium of nice short Snippets (or is it called Sound Bites now?)

*

*

A sad woman’s comment:

Snippet #1:

Perwakilan Wanita UMNO perlu pikir sedalam-dalamnya sebelum memilih Ketua Wanitanya.

Perkara paling penting yang mesti dipertimbangkan:

~SEDIH.

Rafidah says that until to the end of the world the Malay women in UMNO will need to throng house to house to do voters survey! Yikes!!! All Wanita UMNO members better load up on your whitening lotions and sun blocks SPF50++ quickly!!! PRU 13 not very far away, you know…

On second thought, how the heck can the women do this in high rise and swanky households of KL, Selangor? One can walk and walk, houses to houses but one can only interview the maids cos the “Tuan tak ada rumah!” I wonder if the baju kurungs of Wanita UMNO can withstand the bites of upset imported dogs… heheheehe…

Snippet # 2:

“Ada kalangan wanita UMNO yang menyebut soal perubahan kerana mereka kata sampai bila Wanita UMNO hendak jadi peraih undi?

RAFIDAH: Sampai kiamat.

Mingguan Malaysia Rafidah memaparkan kenapa beliau ingin terus menerajui Wanita.

*

*

A blogger said there’s nothing to shout about Wanita UMNO’s non-achievements so far:

Snippet # 3:
“Jika menyorok sejarah wanita, tiada apa yang boleh dibanggakan oleh sayap parti itu, tiada sumbangan boleh dijadikan buah tangan untuk ahli Umno.

Apa yang wanita Umno tahu adalah melaksanakan lawatan sambil belajar, ke luar negara. Itu sahaja. Rafidah perlu memikirkan satu gagasan idea yang terbaik bagi menjenamakan semula Wanita Umno.”

~Guana Gu

*

*

eh… the journalist also agreed with the blogger on change…
Apparently them journalists are also tired of no ideas from Rafidah despite queening it as Wanita UMNO chief all these years…

Snippet # 4:

Seorang wartawan menjawab: YB… your speech is nothing. Give us another story.”

Here’s a brief biodata compiled by a fellow blogger on Rafidah Aziz that the people on the street still can remember and gossip about:

Snippet # 5:

2009… another sexy year with ADUN Bukit Lanjan’s Elizabeth Wong?

Malaysians are again entertained with sexy exposures with political figures…

Ain’t most of us glad for nice sexy diversion from the heavy Perak political crisis.

Brought to you for your viewing pleasure courtesy of Elizabeth Wong‘s former boyfriend who has done either following:

1. Used the handphone to take photo of former girlfriend sleeping

or

2. Downloaded it to PC

or

3. Forgot about the photo in PC or Handphone and send it for repair or sold the hardwares without erasing them photos.

Wait a minute… I’m getting a dejavu feeling here… Ah… it’s like Edison Chen‘s sexual adventure replay Malaysian version 2009 la.

or

Maybe it’s like Chua Soi Lek sex story replay Malaysian version 2009?

hmmm……

For now real politics can be forgotten briefly. Now the politicians can get busy going all moral and talk pulpit sermons. Summon the fire and brimstones on the morally loose…!!!

Even Elizabeth Wong’s friends in PKR are questioning her morality here:

“Kini timbul desakan agar beliau meletak jawatan kerana moralnya dipertikaikan.

(Agenda Daily)

I wonder if the women rights groups will come out to defend one of their sister whose rights have been sullied. Eeerrr… rights and privacy, anyone?

Media having a field day today.

Guide to political survival in Malaysia: Guanxi and Mianzi

Ladies and gentlemen,

Its Show & Tell time again! Especially useful for political survival and for activists keen to convey their messages effectively to those in political power.

Today is all about guanxi and mianzi.

Example:
Why Hindraf failed at UMNO’s Open House at PWTC recently, as shown by extract from The Star :

.
Several Cabinet Ministers disapproved of the timing of the memorandum, saying that a Hari Raya open house was the wrong platform for it.

“This is not the time, this is not the correct venue. They can come to wish Selamat Hari Raya and shake hands, but the rest of it, different time, and different date.

“If they come in peace and harmony there shouldn’t be any problems,” said Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar.

Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said Hindraf members should have known their limits and not turn up at an open house “like this”.

“There are platforms for you to make your submission. This is not the proper way of doing things. I mean, it’s a Raya do. Today is Hari Raya, it’s got nothing to do with memorandums.

“This shouldn’t have happened like this, especially during this festive season, whether it’s Hari Raya, Christmas, Deepavali or Chinese New Year,” he said.

Tourism Minister Datuk Azalina Othman said such behaviour would reflect poorly on Malaysia’s image to tourists.

“If you are here as a guest, then behave as one. Parliament will convene on Oct 13. They can do so (submit their memorandum) then,” she said.

.

Here’s how guanxi can be adopted by Hindraf to perhaps turn around its Titanic from hitting the iceberg:

“Adopting the Chinese principles of quanxi (relationship) and mianzi (giving face) can help promote greater harmony in a multi-racial society.” (another article from The Star, featuring the sage and ageless advice from PM in waiting Najib Tun Razak at a do featuring Chinese culture).

.

End of show and tell for today.

Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamarudin RPK arrested under ISA

Got this news sms:

12/9: Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamarudin has been arrested under ISA; Home Ministry issues 3 newspapers show cause letters/The Star

What’s very interesting is that Home Ministry also issues 3 newspapers show cause letters – Sin Chew Daily, The Sun and Suara Keadilan.  Mmmmmm….

And so this question this banana would like to pose to our top, big, powerful leaders in the government:

“What’s up with Malaysia now? Where to? Forward or backward?”

Mylivingwall has published an SOS earlier on this:

Joint Press Statement by National Alliance of Bloggers and Centre for Policy Initiatives

SOS on Raja Petra Kamarudin to Fellow Malaysians

During the last few days there has been an ominous and increasing crescendo of messages – written and verbal – indicating the imminent arrest and detention of fellow blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin under the Internal Security Act (ISA).

Will the Parliament debate on the ISA when it reconvenes after Hari Raya?

Shock 1 by Ong Ka Ting, Shock 2 at Anwar Ibrahim-Malaysiakini

As expected, Ong Ka Ting will not be seeking re-election at MCA’s party election this year. Malaysiakini broke the news yesterday and The Star’s headlines this morning was a shockful one.

What OKT shock?

OKT has been promoting Ong Tee Keat like the brisk wet market fish seller during the MCA state meetings where he gave OTK the honour to answer tough and about the future questions. My MCA insider told me that OTK must now scramble to get many more young members who are intelligent, got some leadership abilities, and know how to reply to emails or join online forums. To get approval from the oldies in the MCA central committee for Presidential seat is easy. To steer MCA in the next General Election, OTK must get younger faces into his team. Otherwise ‘mati katak’ like OKT.

I pity OKT. He started off on a strong footing when Ling Liong Sik gave him the throne. (Yuucck… why la must give President post from one person to another… no standard. Just offer top positions to all members to contest and get them a platform to caucus debate Obama-Hillary style la… then MCA can finally get to choose real solid leaders, not social workers or PR man la.)

Excuse me, digress a bit there.

OK, this OKT started on a healthy footing. Unfortunately, all the bureau programmes reeks of social welfare, business ventures rather than pure political stuff. So outdated and not matching voters’ aspiration. Sure la their customers run away to Pakatan Rakyat’s politics.

If you ask me, if OTK is confirmed as candidate for next MCA President, I will say, we need to do background check on suitability of all the oldies now in the Central Committee. One never knows for sure who will contest at the last minute. Don’t believe? Feel for yourself the hypocrisy, especially those who have vilified or spoke bad about OKT, healthy political culture, etc, here.

Anwar

Boring already this police report of sodomy. Like 10 years ago, also reported by a young fella. History repeating itself.

One or two explosive twist though. Anwar fought back with a fierce press statement alleging IGP Musa Hasan and AG Gani Patail were the black hand in the first sodomy case.
Sex laws

Personally I don’t give a damn to anyone’s sexual preference. But our archaic Malaysia laws still says that its an offence to sodomise. I don’t know what Syariah law says about sodomy.

Remember 1 Jan 2008 and Chua Soi Lek? An oral thingy got this former Health Minister kicked out. Also because oral sex is still an offence under Malaysia laws.

Perhaps Malaysia need to update its outdated laws that do not fit our current sexual preferences?

But then, in the free USA and Britain, they still sack and pressure their lawmakers to resign if one is caught for sexual misdemenour.

No, you cannot! Err… Yes, you can, my begging journalists…

According to Malaysiakini today:

More than 100 journalists are staging a boycott after the Parliament administration cut media access to the building’s lobby and barricaded the area.

Journalists from all print, online and electronic media decided to only cover the proceedings in the Dewan Rakyat and boycott all the press conferences or events held outside of the chamber.

The journalists were outraged and stunned by the latest ruling which has resulted in the entire lobby being cordoned off, apparently on security grounds.

This move has restricted the journalists from moving around freely in the lobby or approaching MPs directly.

Apparently, this is the first time Parliament enforced such ruling. Nazri Aziz said 5 of you journalists from each news agency are enough. If you come in a battalion, you are not efficient workers!!!

Proof of what he has blurted out to antagonise the bestest friends of any politicians is here.
Woookay….

And then at 2:15pm, a hero emerges from the depths of BN’s Backbencher’s Club, to gallantly remove the offending barricades to allow the begging media access to the Parliament lobby. And yes, according to loudmouth Bung Mokhtar, “It’s business as usual.”

Yup. A flip-flopping trend is now viral at Parliament.

Just like me virally infected noooooooose…

No holds barred dissection of Malaysia Chinese Association (MCA)!

Fu Yoh!

If Ong Ka Ting can lead his band of lethargic Central Committee members to do this type of no holds barred evaluation of MCA’s health and lifespan beyond the next GE… Maybe, maybe MCA can be like the re-born phoenix and rise again.

My MCA senior friend told me nobody knows the results of the party post mortem (I hate this term- usually used on dead bodies!!). Most probably the report would not be an earth shattering, totally honest revelation, he thought. When I asked why he arrive at such conclusion, he said as the Central Committee members towkays are not in tune with grassroots and the middle class thinking (king makers of GE12) and what’s going on in internet conversations, their post mortem will be most unlikely to reflect the true state of MCA.

Oh yeah, to listen to the no holds barred critic of MCA, just click to open the podcast HERE.

You won’t find this podcast in malaysiakini.com or malaysia-today.net.

.

Tell me what you think of the critic, or whether you have other ideas, ok? Must transmit to my senior MCA friend’s ears.

.

P/S: MCA snoop squad, (if you exist) you better listen to this and tell it like it is to your bosses, ok?

Goodbye, Malaysia mainstream media and newspapers

Dear Bernama and Mainstream Media (especially The Star),

I already ‘tahan’ your imbecile reporting on Perak, Kedah and Selangor. I cannot tahan anymore!!!

Your reporting on the Trengganu issue of Menteri Besar appointment is a demonstration of gross imbecility in action.

You have abandoned whatever little principles of journalism 101 taught you. You have not done homework to refer to the sources of law eg. the state laws. You have not spent energy to verify facts with more than 1 tired constitution expert. You blindly entitle your articles as “Constitutional Crisis”, when it is only a political impasse. You misled your readers.

Continue with your paparazzi style reporting and the rakyat will gladly cheer you on your spiraling descent into oblivion.
