What if a flash mob goes seriously wrong?

.
Here’s a fictitious piece by Tom Scott which drew up a worst case scenario that could happen when a flash mob goes wrong and really turns out to be a mob.

Even though it seems a remote scenario, its best to handle those social media with care, people.

Hey, gimme some truth

This is a special song dedication to political parties who claim they represent us communities (Chinese, Indian, Malays, dll) when their party constitution say clearly that they are representatives for their own party members only.

I’m sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocrites
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

I’ve had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of Tricky Dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of hope
Money for dope
Money for rope

I’m sick to death of seeing things
From tight-lipped, condescending, mama’s little chauvinists
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth now

I’ve had enough of watching scenes
Of schizophrenic, ego-centric, paranoiac, prima-donnas
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of Tricky Dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of hope
It’s money for dope
Money for rope

Ah, I’m sick to death of hearing things
from uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocrites
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now

I’ve had enough of reading things
by neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now

All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

Everybody now, let us sing together with John Lennon

TM’s High Speed Broadband (HSBB) and photo

“This is a broadband service offering network speeds of up to 4.0Mbps delivered via wired, wireless and mobile technologies such as ADSL, wi-fi, WiMax and high-speed downlink packet access and is available nationwide,” said TM Group chief executive officer, Dato’ Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa.

I’m not going to compare Malaysia’s network speed with Korea’s 14.6 Mbps. Really.

Why?

Cos Malaysia got to replace those oldie physical copper wires with fiber ones before we can speed up the virtual internet autobahn like them Koreans. If you are a KL night owl, you might have noticed those TM contractors working feverishly digging out copper wires and replacing with fiber cables.

No fiber, no real speed. Reality sucks, doesn’t it.

And until Malaysia is truly fibered, we’re stuck in between dreams of surfing up to 4.0Mbps, I guess.
.
Having been using Streamyx’s 1.0Mbps for so long, I jumped at a friend’s invite to test out the High Speed Broad Band (HSBB) a few week ago.

If you have tried watching CNN at peak time with ye Streamyx, you’ll know that it is a stop and go watch. But HSBB, no problem, streaming is very steady, no interuption to the CNN live videos.

Haven’t tested video upload speed to Youtube using HSBB, yet. Need to try before giving more praise (if applicable).

btw, I wish TM will be less coy and let consumers know when the HSBB real deal will be available to all other places beyond the Bangsar, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Shah Alam and Subang Jaya areas. Don’t la expect busy consumers to search through your TM website for the information, netizens are not paid to do that.

Anyways, if TM really want to convert us to HSBB, put lar TM big, big ads with enticing subscription fees to grab our eyeballs at places where we meet/talk in the internet. I don’t mind hosting a paid ad or two in me blog (heeheeheehee)

Here’s to affordable HSBB, speed and access to information so important to drive the Malaysian high income economy dream.

To drool over HSBB gadgets, see photo below.

Malaysia Netroots and Citizen Bloggers

Ever wonder if our savvy politicians are even aware of the changing pattern of communication of our loyal party grassroot voters?

Let’s do a checklist:

Got blog? – check

Got Facebook and Twitter? – check

Got interactive conversation to walk with and connect with commentators’ fears and tears? – “Itu software belum lagi di pasaran, boss…,” explained the hapless political aide. “Pergi tanya dekat bloggers,” exclaimed the half awake politician.

Suddenly a vision pops in my head – she, the internet evangelist grandma in a TV advertisement going, “Jom Streamyx !!”

Share with you below highlights from a related article:

Rise of the Netroots: How citizen army of bloggers is changing Malaysian politics

Malaysian politicians need to rise up with the digital reality and collaborate with social-political new media practitioners to extend constituencies beyond their silver haired circle of loyalist voters. Never before has the need to connect with today’s digital-savvy consumers been so crucial to winning campaigns for a high income economy aspirant nation state.

Thanks to information technology, the possible spectrum for ideological debate in Malaysia has been widen a little especially since the advent of emails, blogs, sms, Youtube, Facebook and Twitter dented the traditionally unidirectional political messaging and campaigning that voters have been subjected to.

So instead of issuing numbing political slogans or lamentations of political parties attributing their troubles to the machinations of their adversaries rather than to their own failures or sheer misfortune, why don’t they just get to work with the netroots as an outreach connector to reach constituents beyond their traditional voters neatly segmented by race, association or party membership?

PKFZ: The barometer of Malaysian government’s vote-ability

Me handphone beeped a text message this morning:

10/12: Former Port Klang Authority General Manager, Datin Paduka OC Phang and two others were arrested over the PKFZ issue. They will be charged in Klang today./The Star

Nice.

Now let us hear from politicians who dare to stand up for principles and accountability to the people of Malaysia.

Other politicians’ voices, please, besides Ong Tee Keat. We already know he has trail blazed the way forward in breaking the iceberg of this huge financial scandal Malaysia can do without.

Anyone else from MCA daring to go against corruption?

Let me hear from others who may have some hidden strength of character undetected by voters. Never, never be shy to promote your beliefs to your real constituents out there. MCA is just a tiny platform for your political relevancy. May I remind you, your BIG target to win over is Malaysians. Orang putih ke, orang hitam ke, orang coklat ke…  doesn’t matter. (I just love this colourful line of Susan Lankaster’s from me favorite Malaysian movie Mekanik. See the youtube clip open at 5:45 – 6:02)

We already have a brave young one from Pemuda UMNO who has asked for force of the law to come down hard on those gluttons nibbling off chunks of the PKFZ gravy train.

Bravo, Khairy Jamaluddin!

If UMNO and MCA keeps on upgrading their level of accountability and adherence to rules of governance, no sane voter will begrudge them the reward of a huge mandate in the next General Election.

Sex bombed or Rise of MCA?

What do you get when a wannabe blockbuster movie director deploys tired, rehashed dialogues and film in antagonisingly slow paced motion? Anybody interested in tired cinematography techniques? Would the eyelids be batting to stay awake if there is no sexing up with CGI to retain the attention of the young moviegoers? Don’t we seriously need a gung-ho hero and his sidekicks to inspire adulation from us voyeurists watchers?

Yawn…

Undeniably, requests for reruns on the youtube for that movie featuring the unknowing star Mr Chua Soi Lek and Miss X actress have risen since Chua himself has been sacked from the venerable stable of famed movie house MCA.

The current reruns caused much a dejavu moment for the legions of voyeurists who have already seen the show many a times in 2008.

So enamoured were the many fans with the actor of the famed voyeurist show, that they are now attempting to re-live their connextion in real life with the star, the man.

The many devoted fans are now coming out of the closet, to re-align with the star in attempt to reinstate his stalled career.

The CSL fan club headed by the enthusiastic Tan Chai Ho and Loh Seng Kok as campaign coordinators are untiredly going around town to boost support for Mr Chua’s retention.

The latest we heard from the CSL campaign team was that 921 fans will be jumping up high in the air to show their devotion to CSL.

Hopefully, this will melt the MCA’s board of directors’ hearts and bend their minds to sign back CSL in time to star in the next movie blockbuster “General Election the 13th : Rise of MCA

P/S: I think I am in depression… must be suffering from serious withdrawal due to lousy films offerings in cinema circuit. Why can’t we have many movies like District 9? I crave for movies like District 9 – good for the brain and humanity. Love the Christopher Johnson character, what a real hero. I’ve watch it twice already in the cineplex, man.

Chua Soi Lek challenging Islam Hadhari government

What do you think is Chua Soi Lek’s true intention in politics? He wants revenge at all costs to get back to being a minister, even sacrificing his beloved party and Barisan Nasional’s Islam Hadhari government? After 20 years in big man politics, the poor guy must be having terrible viagra withdrawal to renegade on his big man’s honourable words.

Here’s what another blogger is saying about Chua Soi Lek (and no, you can’t find this juice in Malaysiakini or Raja Petra’s Malaysia Today):

.

.

Kini, setelah berjaya meraih jawatan Timbalan Presiden MCA Chua Soi Lek pulak mengugut Presiden MCA Ong Tee Keat supaya mengajukan nama Soi Lek sebagai Menteri kepada kerajaan Islam Hadhari yang telah menolaknya terlebih dahulu akibat pendedahan video seks terkenal.

Apa dah jadi, Soi Lek?

Ketagihan kuasa itu sudah menular kembali ke sehingga janji menghormati kerajaan Islam Hadhari itu boleh diketepikan begitu sahaja?
