Guilty. Malaysia Members of Parliament

Was too angry to post anything last few days.

How can one not be angry when a good man was betrayed in death by the laws of the country and a man who caused his sufferings and eventual death was virtually let off with a slap on the wrist? Imagine his family’s feelings at being let down by law.

Read this.

Do you know, we cannot blame the courts or the judge, as they can only be guided by laws set by Parliament. We have to be aware the instrument to protect the country and its people is the Malaysia laws and in this case, the transport laws have not moved with the times!

How come important laws have not been updated before we were told by Najib Razak that we should dream to become a high income nation?

What have all our Member of Parliaments and NGOs been doing all these years? So busy with Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Rakyat partisanship that they neglected to fight to update laws to protect the real rakyat?

Don’t give me the excuse ‘because one is not the government, one cannot do anything’. It is now time to name and find out if any of our MPs has been faithfully ‘memperjuangkan’ laws be updated to protect the rakyat. Let’s see if we can make up even a minimum total of 10% from the 222 MPs in the house fulfiling their responsibility to push for laws updating.

MPs, you are the ones who should say sorry to the nation, you are part of the body responsible that made Malaysians lives cheap enough for hit and run perpetrators all these years.

This coming general election, we must question all election candidates thoroughly before we even consider to donate a vote to them – Ask them bluntly and demand for substantive reply on what will they do to push laws to be updated so that justice can be fair to the people, or a husband, a father, a grandfather like Ong Kim Koon. Rakyat should not be apologetically relegated to just a number in the statistics just because of archaic laws – MPs do you job or risk be replaced in next GE.

Still am very angry.

BN’s headache: Chua Soi Lek and the MCA problem

No need to write my 2 sens worth when Mr/Ms ‘election observer’ says it all:

“The real problem for MCA is that it lacks credible leaders.

The Chinese sees MCA leaders as self-serving [look at the party elections, the running down of its own leaders in MCA by different factions within the party and the inability to unite after party elections].

It is made worse by having CSL as president, a person whose morality is in question. The Chinese [the voting public not MCA members] do not hold him in high esteem and likewise the UMNO leaders and members in all likelihood. Hence, whatever CSL may say, only few will listen to him. Instead of advising other parties like SUPP not to join the Sarawak state cabinet.

It is time for CSL and his supporters to let new capable leaders who have no fear of losing cabinet positions and personal gains take over MCA, leaders who dare tell UMNO to treat them with dignity and fairness or else they are prepared to work outside Barisan [not just say it but mean it].

And don’t worry or pretend to worry that the Chinese will be worse off without MCA’s participation in the government. We have heard this talk before, believe me the Chinese will survive without MCA in the Barisan government.”

hmmmm… makes one wonder why the current batch of MCA leaders are so helplessly unworthy in their community’s eye.  Some said MCA’s leadership is obsolete and has expired a long time ago. If I were Chua Soi Lek and gang, I’d retreat and let the party have a real election for real leaders (for once).

There are also 2 burning question from a friend: “Why the majority of the Chinese want to vote for opposition? Was it because MCA had betrayed them for the past 53 years?”

An anonymous commentator suggested this:

“JANGAN PANGKAH PARTI TAPI PANGKAH CALUN.”

A parent resolved to do this:

“Why we parents are not happy? One, some of the parents have many schooling kids. If f5 one have to spend nearly $1600 on the first day of school, imagine you have 5 kids and some in colleges where they need $500/600 pmth for food and books. Perbelanjaan biasa mcm mana?

My thots? Even cikgus wants extra income. Some by giving tuition, some by enforcing extra payments from students and parents. This did not include monthly request from school on tshirts, files, seminars, classes etc. This has to stop and my resolution in the next GE is to choose candidates, not the party.”

A Member of Parliament from Barisan Nasional pleaded the same:

“Amid the familiar speculation on the imminent 13th General Election, it is imperative for the voters to be more discerning on making their choice, come polling day. We should gauge and judge the candidates not merely on their party affiliation or their one-off statement made on certain issues, but instead their consistency in upholding certain virtues or values should be given top marks.”

So, will the above be harbinger of the voting trend for the Malaysian 13th General Election?

Aging BN political parties don’t understand generationism

Longevitity in politics is admired for its resilience. However, in the world that is constantly in a state of flux, shifting from generations to generations after WWII, Baby boomers to Generation X to Generation Y and now the Generation Z, political parties which have been there since Merdeka seriously need to learn and re-learn new ways to engage with their voters.

Forget the old methods of ‘servicing’ the voters by simply playing the middlemen eg: to type support letters to help them apply for some things. Or just indulging in charity work. Or worst, interfering with the education system. That ain’t  the lawmaking and policymaking your voters put you up for.

In case, ye olde political parties haven’t noticed, your voters are now literate and can write by themselves. Don’t believe it? Just check what they say of you and your party in the internet.

Forget the antagonizing ‘criticize and hit below the belt’ method you are wont to indulge in Twitter. They are a huge turn-off to current voters who have started to develop a taste for fair play.

It is well to quickly learn how to update your communication methods to engage. Start within your own party – start by training your own members before your political party caused itself to be an embarrassment in eyes and ears of the listening public. And then, lose in the General Election.

Just do it, Chua Soi Lek

Never knew so many Malaysians suffer from Hamlet’s Syndrome….

So little time, but soooo much wasting of precious hours analyzing to death the facts that everybody, including my favourite char kuey teow man already knows about BN and MCA – the fall guy flavour of the month.

There comes a time, when we heed a certain call, that the organisation, must stand, stand together as one…. (or at least fight a good fight).

How now, brown cow?

1. Create value for your members

Give them a sense of pride, that being a card carrying member matters – give each of your subscribing members the power to decide who to lead MCA as a political party instead of MCA as a social welfare organisation. Still don’t get it? Direct election of the Central Committee is the answer.

2. Get rid of bad salesmen/saleswomen aka grassroot leaders

It is intolerable for any business, to have salesmen/saleswomen who just don’t and won’t get the job done to get the buy-in from customers or members for the organisation’s products/services. If MCA divisional leaders are unable to sell MCA the political party to the grassroots, get rid of these lousy salesmen. If your grassroots leaders are unable to jump up the benchmark above ‘longkang’ pointing mode, get rid of them.

Bring in those who can tell and sell MCA to Malaysians of all colours. Remember how MCA once had 15 Member of Parliaments before 2008? Can you afford to have 0 MPs whom can be perceived able to speak up on policy matters in Parliament in the next General Election?

3. Just do it, Chua Soi Lek!

Let’s see if the MCA members made the right choice choosing Chua Soi Lek to do the job to take charge of the 61 year old party’s turnaround – from a social welfare organisation into a political party of choice for Malaysians.

Of MCA, hitmen, cleaning up cyber off lies and slander before GE

Tourism Malaysia wishes to clarify that currently there is no new contract yet been sealed with any party with regard to the global buy advertising campaign 2010, as claimed by the writer – Malaysia New Kid On Blog, Wednesday, March 10, 2010. For the record, the process and procedures in terms of procurement for advertising is carried out in accordance to Financial Procedures.

The above statement really piqued my curiosity. What a nice surprise to my Sunday morning: A government ministry issuing just that to clarify fact, re-butt an unsubstantiated story whilst stressing their adherence to financial policy for public record.

Thumbs up to Ministry of Tourism. This is a good sign of responsiveness when a government ministry practice such swift response to an alleged ‘true story’ published on the internet.

A blog writer ‘Malaysia New Kid On Blog (alias mynkob)’ whose ‘true’ article was published on Raja Petra’s website Malaysia-Today tells a story of “If Dato Mirza fails to comply with Ruzi’s order, Ruzi will punish Dato Mirza”.

Hmmm, the name Dato’ Mirza seems familiar. Intrigued, I did some fact finding on this Dato’ Mirza character to find out more.

I found out that Dato’ Mirza Mohd Taiyyab (Director General of Tourism Board Promotion Board) is well respected by his staff and regarded as a straightforward civil servant who’d stick to procedures despite solicitations of ‘businessmen’ hungry for shortcut to contract.

According to a fellow blogger, “When Datuk Mirza was first charged in Court, almost his entire Tourism Ministry Staff came to Court to show support. The Ministry’s Sports Club or Union or something also held a Sembahyang Hajat for him. Mirza was well known as a “strict and straight by the book, no nonsense DG of Tourism”. His forte was saying NO.”

That this Dato’ Mirza came out jubilant in court with his reputation intact is one evidence of his worthiness as an upright government servant that rakyat want so much to see nowadays.

If this story by mynkob were true, one would find it queerly out of character for the experienced Dato’ Mirza to now suddenly kow tow to ‘threats’ from a mere Managing Director from Sen Media Sdn. Bhd and not have the fellow reported to the authorities.

I’m curious about the state of mind of the writer mynkob. Was his motive to again hit and slander also the DG who is entrusted to run a no-nonsense tightship for his current boss lady minister Ng Yen Yen?

Could business rivalry or jealousy be one of the reasons for the writer’s attempt to slander the DG, his hardworking lady boss and the well performing Tourism Ministry?

And for mynkob to link the story to MCA – it is just too wild for this rational mind.

Every MCA central delegate worth his/her salt knows that the fight and MCA party polls is all about its top 2 ‘leaders’. The rest of the leaders like Vice President Ng Yen Yen, etc, are status quo as their internal party voters have never objected to them continuing as the Central Committee until the next one due in 2011.

Aiyah! If the MCA party polls can generate such hateful and libelous writings in the internet, BN would have one hell of a headache to think of how best to hide all these self inflicted injurious scabs when this Barisan Nasional component party goes out to campaign in the next General Election.

It’s better for MCA quickly get a strategist to clean up the cyber mess their hitman writers left all over the internet before MCA goes to campaign for the next GE under BN banner.

I can also think of friends who would naturally adapt all these juicy stuff to boost image of their party vs BN. All is fair in love and war, baby. And be mindful that the aim is not to be the biggest loser.

Hmmmm…. how the mind doth boggles at all theories and political implications brought on by just one article in the internet.

Thaipusam visit: What say you, my friends?

Dato’ S. Sothinathan’s letter published in Malaysiakini “Najib trendsets with Thaipusam visit” highlighted the following:

“… This gesticulation of the premier to be there at this propitious ceremony is to be commended and to be emulated by leaders at all levels. It is a timely gesture, especially at this time in Malaysian history when religious and racial insensitivities and intolerance are ubiquitous.

It goes a long way to show that the PM cares about what happens to the Indian community. It is extremely symbolic in promoting mutual religious appreciation and understanding. On the same note, it allays the fears and apprehensions of the younger generation and imbues new hope and faith.”

Nice positivism from one of a formerly bright MIC star. I wonder if he will be given the chance to have another go to contest in the next General Election to defend his Teluk Kemang parliamentary seat.

But then, commentator Rajendra Veluppillai gave this feedback on PM Najib Razak’s visit:

“Please do not hijack religious occasion and convert it into a political show. I am really offended and angry that this occasion for spiritual journey of self discovery, penance and enlightenment had been trespassed and defiled. Hindu”

What say you to this point of view, my friends? Do the rakyat really need to see Najib attending every religious ceremony in order to be convinced of his sincerity to be the PM for all races? Is this the job of Malaysia’s Prime Minister?

PKFZ: The barometer of Malaysian government’s vote-ability

Me handphone beeped a text message this morning:

10/12: Former Port Klang Authority General Manager, Datin Paduka OC Phang and two others were arrested over the PKFZ issue. They will be charged in Klang today./The Star

Nice.

Now let us hear from politicians who dare to stand up for principles and accountability to the people of Malaysia.

Other politicians’ voices, please, besides Ong Tee Keat. We already know he has trail blazed the way forward in breaking the iceberg of this huge financial scandal Malaysia can do without.

Anyone else from MCA daring to go against corruption?

Let me hear from others who may have some hidden strength of character undetected by voters. Never, never be shy to promote your beliefs to your real constituents out there. MCA is just a tiny platform for your political relevancy. May I remind you, your BIG target to win over is Malaysians. Orang putih ke, orang hitam ke, orang coklat ke…  doesn’t matter. We already have a brave young one from Pemuda UMNO who has asked for force of the law to come down hard on those gluttons nibbling off chunks of the PKFZ gravy train.

Bravo, Khairy Jamaluddin!

If UMNO and MCA keeps on upgrading their level of accountability and adherence to rules of governance, no sane voter will begrudge them the reward of a huge mandate in the next General Election.

Sex bombed or Rise of MCA?

What do you get when a wannabe blockbuster movie director deploys tired, rehashed dialogues and film in antagonisingly slow paced motion? Anybody interested in tired cinematography techniques? Would the eyelids be batting to stay awake if there is no sexing up with CGI to retain the attention of the young moviegoers? Don’t we seriously need a gung-ho hero and his sidekicks to inspire adulation from us voyeurists watchers?

Yawn…

Undeniably, requests for reruns on the youtube for that movie featuring the unknowing star Mr Chua Soi Lek and Miss X actress have risen since Chua himself has been sacked from the venerable stable of famed movie house MCA.

The current reruns caused much a dejavu moment for the legions of voyeurists who have already seen the show many a times in 2008.

So enamoured were the many fans with the actor of the famed voyeurist show, that they are now attempting to re-live their connextion in real life with the star, the man.

The many devoted fans are now coming out of the closet, to re-align with the star in attempt to reinstate his stalled career.

The CSL fan club headed by the enthusiastic Tan Chai Ho and Loh Seng Kok as campaign coordinators are untiredly going around town to boost support for Mr Chua’s retention.

The latest we heard from the CSL campaign team was that 921 fans will be jumping up high in the air to show their devotion to CSL.

Hopefully, this will melt the MCA’s board of directors’ hearts and bend their minds to sign back CSL in time to star in the next movie blockbuster “General Election the 13th : Rise of MCA”

P/S: I think I am in depression… must be suffering from serious withdrawal due to lousy films offerings in cinema circuit. Why can’t we have many movies like District 9? I crave for movies like District 9 – good for the brain and humanity. Love the Christopher Johnson character, what a real hero. I’ve watch it twice already in the cineplex, man.

As a voter, I’m sorry to say this, but its getting to be a bit boring with the rerun and recycling of the Perak Assembly convening by the Pakatan Rakyat‘s group.

According to Malaysiakini report:
“The Perak Pakatan Rakyat elected representatives are determined to proceed with their planned state assembly sitting today despite a police order barring anyone from gathering at the state secretariat.”

Will DAP’s Sivakumar, Nga Kor Ming, Ngeh Koo Ham and PAS’s Nizar concede to the political game loss and come back roaring another day to decisively win the state at the next General Election?

Please?

Concede gracefully?

So that the people of Perak can be allowed to step back a little bit, take stock of the political play in the state and live their lives normally until when GE13 is near?
